The discipline of Fine Arts in Jiangsu University covers four research directions: art history and art archaeology, Chinese calligraphy and painting theory and creation research, Western painting theory and creation, and plastic arts application research. This subject emphasizes the inheritance of excellent painting tradition, pays attention to the comprehensive cultivation of various kinds of Arts, pays attention to the basic training of modeling, and the integration and absorption of ancient and modern Chinese and Western integration, explores new painting techniques and the application of new materials, and cultivates practical art talents through solid foundation and extensive collection.
Direction 1: art history and art archaeology team: Make full use of scientific thinking to carry out art science research, closely combine the regional cultural characteristics and the discipline characteristics of our university, rely on various kinds of art and cultural relics resources collected by Zhenjiang Museum, carry out in-depth research on Jingjiang painting school, Yangzhou painting school, Changzhou painting school and other schools and painters, and teach students more professional art theoretical knowledge and skills training. In addition, the team also made some achievements in the text interpretation and modern transformation of Chinese art theory, especially the modern interpretation and aesthetic transformation of painting theory since the Wei and Jin Dynasties is the focus of art theory in this direction. The archaeological study of Buddhist art in the Han and Tang Dynasties is more in-depth, focusing on the early spread of Buddhist art, especially the relationship between the Southern Buddhism and early Buddhist art. It is of great significance to prove history with images and explore the spread, integration and absorption of Buddhist culture in China.
Direction 2: research team of Chinese calligraphy and painting theory and creation: The characteristics and advantages of this direction are to make full use of the advantages of the local natural environment and human environment, and to explore the causes of the formation and development of Jiangnan ink and wash painting style. In addition, the direction of the use of Zhenjiang Museum, Zhenjiang library, folk family biography of precious historical literature and paintings, these painting methods, painting school in-depth mining and interpretation. In learning and inheriting the seclusion and pure painting style of the traditional Jingjiang School of painting, in-depth study of the precious heritage of the hermit literati, explore new painting methods and styles in the new era, and show the new spirit and new realm of Jiangnan realistic landscape painting creation. The Chinese painting works of our members have their own strengths in pursuing the spirituality of ink and wash in the south of the Yangtze River, or in strengthening the cultural connotation of the works. They have won awards in major exhibitions held by the China Artists Association for many times, and gradually formed their own characteristics. In addition, this direction will further expand the channels of international cooperation in running schools, and increase the investment in international overseas study tour projects according to local advantages.
Research team of Western painting theory and creation This direction adopts the research method of combining theory with practice, and focuses on the style characteristics and theoretical system of Western painting schools since Impressionism. It is reflected in the study of the transformation of western modern painting concepts and the material changes resulting from it, and give full play to the advantages of local Jiangnan scenery and cultural heritage, and make a comparative study of the expressiveness of Western painting and the freehand lyricism of Chinese traditional literati painting, and explore the painting vocabulary and form conversion. In addition, the team is committed to image analysis, processing and conversion processing by means of contemporary science and technology, so as to achieve novel visual effects, and further explore how to use oil painting or watercolor painting for expression and integration, and skillfully eliminate the boundaries between production and painting.
Direction 4: plastic arts application research team: This direction includes three aspects. 1. The inheritance history of plastic arts application mainly studies and studies the evolution history of ancient craft modeling in art creation and creation, and carries out special research on historical topics; 2. Research on the concept of creation. Focusing on the concept research of ancient and modern creation, this paper explores the philosophy, anthropology, psychology, engineering and other principles of ancient and modern creation concept, and summarizes the phenomenon that the concept of creation feeds back people's cultural life; 3. The application research of plastic arts in contemporary social life, combined with contemporary science and technology and cultural ethics, explores how plastic arts construct real life, and makes a theoretical summary.
